Number one at Woof, but not in poetry :(

05.12.09

My short story topped the woof contest. However, my poem was way below the ranks. I guess that type of poetry was not so popular after all.

I will write more and improve on my style. Thank you very much for the votes!

“There was a 5 way tie for fifth place in poetry, and a two way tie for 3rd place in prose, so I published 4 poems and 4 prose,” says webmistress of plotdog.

Congratulations to the winners! I would like to extend my special mention to Webbilady, Izzy Daniels, dragonblogger, Jennifer Scott, and Roy.

    Congrats!

You asked about a soliloquy – what I wrote was more a monologue, I think. A soliloquy is where someone is talking to himself, while a monologue is a person talking to himself, or to others.

You also asked about 3WW: it’s simple – just go to the site every Wednesday, look at the three words for the week, and do something with them. It can be a haiku, a three sentence paragraph, or a really long story, whatever. The idea is to just do what you want with the three words, put your entry in the comments, and go visit other participants to see what hey did with the same prompts. It’s usually amazing how differently we treat the same three words.

    Cheers,
    ~willow~

    Hey Z,
Congrats for taking the top with your story. Well deserved – it was really cool!! Don’t lose sleep over not winning in poetry. One can not really score a “number” in poetry contest. We rely on other people opinions and that is so subjective!! …not worth a tear… Your poem is very good and on top of that people can learn from it!! Sleep e-z.
