I am my father’s son
06.21.09
I am my father’s son.
His ancestors live in my blood,
the root of who I am today.
His legacy of time foretold
future of generations someday.
His strong adamant will,
determined calculated mind.
His eager child of education,
offspring of a covenant – twined.
I am my father’s son.
I wish of honor to his name,
justice to this life’s ideals.
Enigmatic walls only exclaim,
for they tore asunder from his ordeals.
With me is the family’s repute,
my strength comes from this power.
Unafraid of mistakes – trivial pursuits,
lifeless sorrows shrink and wither.
I am my father’s son.

hello doc! I was looking around and I saw this blog about a father and son relationship or so i interpret, when you said “ancestors in my blood” i think I’m beginning to grasp the point, genes thrown in and all,you must love your father very much, unfortunately for me, i may not have experienced the kind of quality time that you did to make your bond strong, i believe my father-son relationship fell like “a house of cards”, I hope I can find your latest poems, I’m looking through!
