The hermit on a hill spend days just “to be,”
mingled in a mirror that time and space scribbled.
A barren gift of sweet filled candies,
rewards received from prisoned warmth unshackled.

Luminous lights of halogen fireflies amuse,
silly thoughts of impulsiveness to write.
Clear and infinite kaleidoscope ruse,
often seen stolen from a cold rainy night.

These were random thinking patterns,
a mad man on the top of a hill.
Carrying a brittle lit lantern,
with nothing else but a remorseful chill.

Yet a solitary angel fell with wings unfastened,
looking at the heaven with pitiful eyes.
Kiss of an immortal that once was forbidden,
the ground she laid in wait, bruised and despised.

This hermit, repulsive in smell with a hideous face,
but certain with purity of a forgiving heart.
Came running down to help this angel fallen from grace,
unmindful of the notes written – his letters fell apart.

  2. d'Arch Angel says:

    Hmmm. I wonder who this hermit could be… And why he didn’t stop meditating for a while to take a bath. :)

  3. Jena Isle says:

    He he he, Arch Angel, what a question. Are you the fallen angel? Kidding…

    I like this Z, comes with an interesting story and an unusual one at that. Like the Beauty and the Beast? hmmmm.

    Good one for a class debate in poetry. Superb one Doc Z! You’ve done it again.

      @Jena,

      Thank you! This is another experiment. I just notice that whenever I am about to sleep then I start writing. These scenes become more vivid.

      I like the comparison with a Disney story. And I do hope it wont be too much of a debate for kids in school. hehehe

    Z, why dont you venture in tagalog also next time… you are already good in nosebleeding. hehehe. i wonder why hindi nag-update post mo sa site ko, di pa pala kita na follow. so, follower mo na po ako, ngayon pa lang.

    • Zorlone says:

      Thank you follower Petit. hehehe. I have a Tagalog poem. Will post it soon. I am just worried that I might be asked to translate it. Sometimes there are thoughts and feelings that are lost in translation.

  5. This would, indeed, provide hours of fun challenge unraveling in a poetry class – but not a debate for “kids” – more like a college level lit analysis. (This is one of those things that inhibit my writing – wondering what a bunch of university students would come up with in analyzing my work posthumously.) Layers of meaning, lots of intriguing imagery. I like it.

    • Zorlone says:

      @Holly,

      That’s what I am hoping for, some fun in the classroom. Of course, a debate would be fun too. ;) Some of the imagery here are the product of a state of stupor. Half asleep, I guess.

      Thank you!
