Colorum

An army of vans on the streets,
carrying commuters on a daily basis.
Braving traffic and risk impoundment,
disguised as private vehicles.
Interconnected via radio lines.
“Breaker! A 10-3 in progress,”
says a bubbly voice on the other side.
Speaking jargons on radio waves alliance.
Updates of traffic heard in real time,
snaking and dodging other vehicles.
To reach the destinations prompt and safe,
this new way of life for the reckless.
Strategic plan to evade annoyance,
the enemy – enforcers and volume of cars.
Traffic rules were bent for this selfish purpose,
making money out of passengers’ sweet ride of comfort.
Note: Colorum is a Filipino slang for an unregistered public utility vehicle

Hmm, I have a new type of poems to study… Colorum Poems …Lols
Doc Z, naexperience ko ‘yan when I was still riding colorum FX, instead of bus. May radio nga sila and have codes kapag may nanghuhuli and kapag traffic.
Pero ngayon I find much comfort on buses.

@Jhong,
Alam ko naghahanap ka ng free verse e. Tamang tama ito. Pwede mo na din tawaging colorum kung gusto mo. hehehe
@Madz,
Astig ano? Naalala ko yung mga terms nila na medyo nirevise lang. May mga classmates ako nung premed na magaling sa Radio Lingo, mga babae pa.

aaahhhh yes…metro manila….
C,
Yup! Don’t you miss it?

Magaling din ako ng 10-4. Roger, Roger. Are you there, over. Signing out, over and out. he he he.
Iyong anak kong babae, nagra -radio noon. Iyan ang uso ng late 1990′s. Mga cell phone nga noon parang radio, may antenna pa.
Good poem, shows exactly the state of “colorum” vans in the local areas.
@Jena,
After getting used to commute the Metro, I am proud to say that I am one with the road. he he he. I just wish I have a DSLR camera to document my commute. LOL. In time, I guess… in time.
