A venomous knotted snake,
formed in the pit of my stomach.
Forcing the will, to brave against,
the rising silt of mud and water.

The walls of this home,
labored through years of sacrifice.
Is doomed to six hours -
of epic torrential rain.

Too late to leave the memories,
of the old and sentimental.
I climbed to the top,
where my fervor was planted.

I held on to the hard cold skin,
of my poor tormented roof.
A current of hands pulled me away,
my last words were “Thank you.”

Then I was swept away,
fighting for another chance.
My hands grabbed at debris and branches,
on a tree top, I held my courage.

This poem is dedicated to all those who were stranded, whose houses were submerged, and who lost their family members and friends last Saturday due to the flash flood caused by the storm Ondoy.

That is true and considering the events that transpired, we should be more concerned with our planet.

these climate changes we really have no control. if we have too many trees, there are forest fires (Borneo, California, etc..). If we have denuded mountain, we have floods. all we have to do is prepare for disaster. we’ll never know when and how.

my prayer goes to those who lost their loved ones and to every victim of this disaster.

My sympathies to all who suffered natures fury. She can be a temperamental mother at times, but her fury subsides in time. She then provides for her children in ways we never expect.

Yes indeed, we should care for her, treat her with respect, show the love deep in our hearts, and above all, help her to care for us all.

                          Ceblogger,

Well said! Sometimes a small gesture helps and hopefully other people pick up on that. Much of what we are experiencing right now is due to global warming. It is an “inconvenient truth” we have to live with and DO something about.

I hope everyone has learned the lessons and prepared for the next battle. We truly can easily deny any kind of force, but the force of nature.
