Complications best speak loudly,

like sirens of firetrucks in pursuit.

Ever announcing listless tragedies,

of feeble minds and dull recruits.

Foreshadows of impending doom,

a graveyard of broken words.

Silently crawling in the loom,

of the meek hearts and troubled herds.

Restless hearts betrayed, despised,

ghostly whispers of revenge.

This gloomy sky of feverish size,

that complications left, blood-tinged.

I prescribe lots of juices and bed rest. Yes, siesta helps a bit, too. Ghostly whispers of revenge? You’re in luck. I know a powerful witch doctor. :)

        What a powerful ending, this:

        Restless hearts betrayed, despised,
        ghostly whispers of revenge.
This gloomy sky of feverish size,
        that complications left, blood-tinged.

The oddest thing happened, on reading this – instead of becoming clearer with each reading, it took on so many possibilities and conflicting notions that I got lost, and confused. Is it descriptive and literal, or is it a metaphor? Is it about relationships, or a medical emergency? Or maybe both? Is it about love or war? About individuals or nations?

        Oh, @#$% if I know…but it’s a damned fine ending.
