Appetite for music

Surrounded by an eager crowd,
the stage fell silent.
Words came out of the blue screen
as the music started playing.
A chill of uncertainty mocked
the trepidation
underneath the brave face,
his throat scorched with flames
of a desert sun.
Time slowed to inhuman length
as each millisecond
tortuously passed. Anxious eyes
bore through the flicker of his spirit.
When the note hit the cue
and his voice was heard,
the throng was stupefied
and hushed.
Wonder and esteem
tore the air of disbelief
as the melody blended with the music.
His song was their food
and the audience was satisfied
to their heart’s content.

With trepidation, I leave this comment lest you break out into another Bon Jovi song again. LOL

I thought the poem would lead something to a ‘walk out’ of spectators like what happened on Whitney Houston’s, he he he.
I wonder how it must be like on stage, performing a musical piece and waiting anxiously for a cheer and at most avoiding the boos coming from unsatisfied crowd members, I’ve seen live bands on very few occasions, time is not the only thing that flies when having fun, even so, hunger and nature has a way of catching up to ears that are deaf to the stomachs plea, it was worth thinking about doc!

Must have been an impressive singer, to stir such words of appreciation.

This Bon Jovi is getting ready for his concert hehehe.

Ajchtar,
Well said my friend, I couldn’t agree with you more. Performance has always been a mystery to me. There are people who do this effortlessly, yet there are a lot who stand in the middle of the crowd, but nothing happens.

Definitely Eric,
A singer, an idol and a cool song writer. They are out there.

I love the correlation of music to food. Food for the soul most assuredly! So, the image would say rock concert of sorts, but the words ‘Words came out of the blue screen, as the music started playing’ makes me think Karaoke. And with that I get a completely different feel altogether. Nicely done!

Hi Anne,
Music shows a universal appeal, be it on a stage with a million audience or a stage of just one, the singer and his passion to feed the soul with the rhythm of his melodies capture the essence of performance with one thing in mind, satisfaction.
