This twisted fate endures sorrow,

contemplating on a lonely shadow.

That brought hope to a blind desperate,

searching for happiness, searching for faith.

The silent fury of a weary heart,

struggling to free itself to set apart.

What power could surpass, the will –

of a simple man with nerves of steel.

Enlightened by the thought of tomorrow,

of a wish entangled on a hill’s brow.

Castigating with furious rambles,

a half beaten wrestler’s final battle.

All in the name of a dream,

to rise up where laborers stream.

Of sweat, of time, and of youth,

a journey to rekindle this mischievous truth.

Shock,

fell upon my face unwrapping,

a tremolous and distant ache.

Agony,

lured my tears from the efforts

that shook a lifeless state.

Miracles,

once created a source of hope,

hanging by a thread of melody.

Prayers,

embraced the coming of an unforeseen,

yet subtle lonely tragedy.

These pictures taunt and linger,

in the spirit of the cold whispers..

His words flew like wild birds on a break out,

typed haphazardly and unconsciously,

nearly escaping the essence.

Seconds were like hours with his blank mind.

No rhythm, no rhyme.

Like a few solitary reflections thrown on a blank screen

that hoped to ignite his hibernating soul,

who used to create masterpieces in a few lines, yet.

Maybe a dreamer who woke up from a nightmare

that no adjectives could describe.

The keyboard stayed silent for another minute

because his mind got distracted,

but his flame slowly tasted the timber of thoughts

and formed a story within an enlightenment.

Prose won tonight, still, the poet craved for the melody

of what was once created for the contentment of his heart.

Surrounded by an eager crowd,

the stage fell silent.

Words came out of the blue screen

as the music started playing.

A chill of uncertainty mocked

the trepidation

underneath the brave face,

his throat scorched with flames

of a desert sun.

Time slowed to inhuman length

as each millisecond

tortuously passed. Anxious eyes

bore through the flicker of his spirit.

When the note hit the cue

and his voice was heard,

the throng was stupefied

and hushed.

Wonder and esteem

tore the air of disbelief

as the melody blended with the music.

His song was their food

and the audience was satisfied

to their heart’s content.

engulfed the fresh air
of the exhilaration -
of running.
A familiar bustle
of an old life,
that longed to reawaken.

The smell of rain
in the damp air,
and the sight of running feet
queued in transit.
Sweat and thrill of adrenaline,
with a steady heart beat and breathing.

Each stride
on this rubberized track,
caressed the soles of my worries.
A salty refreshing delight,
from this oval on a hill while running.

The pace of dynamic muscles,
lift the energy inside.
A reacquainted friend,
my shoes, the track, and running.

Steel lattice on a giant bridge,
crossing the salt water of Kobe.
A unifying dream that islands meet,
hovering on advanced technology.

Robot machine eyes that watch,
no random misbehavior missed.
The towering posts astride,
with cables that never touched, never kissed.

Minds assembled on its feet,
arching a doorway to grandeur.
plans designed with surgical precision,
A builder’s ambition to outlive – endure.

The salivation,
as if deprived of taste,
unthinking,
except for a goal not to waste.

Gourmet food,
lay on endless tables,
crucifying,
a desire to devour.

Succulent roasted meat,
with fowls – ornamented,
desiring,
every flavor imagined.

Gluttony  – undone,
this match between men,
thanking,
an unforeseen mayhem.

An army of vans on the streets,
carrying commuters on a daily basis.
Braving traffic and risk impoundment,
disguised as private vehicles.

Interconnected via radio lines.
“Breaker! A 10-3 in progress,”
says a bubbly voice on the other side.
Speaking jargons on radio waves alliance.

Updates of traffic heard in real time,
snaking and dodging other vehicles.
To reach the destinations prompt and safe,
this new way of life for the reckless.

Strategic plan to evade annoyance,
the enemy – enforcers and volume of cars.
Traffic rules were bent for this selfish purpose,
making money out of passengers’ sweet ride of comfort.

Note: Colorum is a Filipino slang for an unregistered public utility vehicle

Puddles

I
Splattering traces of brown and black,

against the white and pink of your dress.

Your feet landed on puddles of mud,

the rain spits out hues at your gaiety.

II

Footsteps of a ballerinas’ accolade,

pirouettes and fouettes executed passionately.

Waltzing drizzles of steady drums of thunder,

soaked your lavished hair and your pale skin.
