Dust -
rode the wind,
Stinging this poet’s eye.
A lone tear
drew a salty line
that trailed down
from the edges
of the inflamed window
of his thoughts.
A spark of memory
augmented -
but the tear,
raced to the vault
then this poet,
with ink in one hand,
wrote his emotions down
with uneven strokes.

WOOF Contest – Top Picks

Poetry

Zorlone – “Planet’s Saviour” – After seeing the movie Avatar, I just needed to express how I liked the story with a poem.

Roy – “Hope, growth and prosperitysymbolism… color… vision… hope

Dragon Blogger – “A Life Ended” – A Life Ended is a poem about someone depressed and contemplating, then finally on the verge of committing suicide. This is dark poem and ironic considering it was written on New Years Eve and many people played happy words, for some reason my mind just formulated a dark poem today.

Zorlone – “Battle Court” – For someone who is passionate with badminton, this poem takes it to a whole new level.

A poetic tribute to the longest suspension bridge in the world
1212200918151819

Steel lattice on a giant bridge,
crossing the salt water of Kobe.
A unifying dream that islands meet,
hovering on advanced technology.

Robot machine eyes that watch,
no random misbehavior missed.
The towering posts astride,
with cables that never touched, never kissed.

Minds assembled on its feet,
arching a doorway to grandeur.
plans designed with surgical precision,
A builder’s ambition to outlive – endure.

Fire Stars and Tiger Year

01.01.10

0101201001200129

Celebration fireworks lit the sky,
challenging the brightness of stars.
In a clear night,
where the full festival moon laughs,
at the celebration below.

The air is thick with the memories,
of a year that was shed like snakeskin.
A trail of smoke is left,
from what was the brilliance,
of the fire festival above.

The power lines obscured the view,
of a fire child eager to witness,
the parade of lights.
While the skyline,
of low level apartments and houses,
of the middle class,
hid the full view,
of the rare dance,
of this midnight fire.

Explosions kept the bad luck away,
from the coming of a new decade.
As the changing of the numbers,
of this Roman year,
announce the dawn of the Chinese tiger.

An hour after midnight,
the air thinned from the smoke,
of reflections that foretold,
the vision of the coming year,
and gained wisdom from one that left.

A silent knock from a visitor,
proclaimed the gifts that lay ahead,
will only be opened,
when the rooster announces,
the coming of the sun.

Fountain of youth

An exploration of Ponce de Leon,
in search of the promise of youth.
Undying, age defying, beauty, and body,
this search for the story’s truth.

He longed to preserve a wonderland,
surrounded by magic, myth, and legends.
The water of immortality existed,
in St. Agustine where his search darkened.

But his tales drew folks of old,
their chiefs and kings explored.
The water of the land of the men with long life,
had been the match that lit stoic wars.

The water was the soul of the living gods,
that outlived all of those they ruled.
Yet their presence may never be found.
for they hid well – with their water and their jewels.
